LETTER OF THE DAY - A primer on motherhood
THE EDITOR, Sir: WHENEVER THE mother can speak a word of commendation for the good conduct of her children, she should do so. This exhortation forms a part of God's touching citation to the wife and mother in the following words...

On dealing with corruption
THE EDITOR, Sir: Persons who occupy public office at any level are charged with the responsibility to maintain these state institutions of which they are a part. Public institutions essentially define the state.

Why Jamaica is a failed state
THE EDITOR, Sir: THE FIRST duty of the state is the protection of its citizens. Does the state of Jamaica accomplish this? For example, Agana Barrett died from suffocation in a jail cell. No one found guilty for this death.

Senseless slaughter
THE EDITOR, Sir: MY NAME is Shanique Sinclair and I speak on behalf of myself and several other concerned young Jamaican citizens on the tragic and inhumane crime that took place on June 30, 2005 in Burnt Savannah, Westmoreland.

Thanks to Air Jamaica employee
THE EDITOR, Sir: PLEASE ALLOW me to highlight the kindness, integrity, sincerity and selflessness shown to me by Air Jamaica employee Dominique Soutar, who is attached to the Miami International Airport.
