Man charged in double murder case
published: Monday | July 11, 2005

POLICE HAVE charged 39-year-old Peter Dougal with the murders of former president of the Jamaica Gasolene Retailers Association (JGRA), Lloyd G. Brown, and his fiancée, Sandra Campbell.

Dougal, of Santoy district in Hanover, was charged on Saturday, the Constabulary Communication Network (CCN) reported.

Brown, 62, and Campbell, 49, were killed on Sunday, June 6 at Campbell's Stilwell Road home in Stony Hill, St. Andrew.

The police reported that the incident took place at 4 a.m.

Investigators who went to the scene found the bodies of the couple with gunshot wounds.

Later that afternoon the police went to premises at Vineyard Town, where Dougal and a group of men allegedly engaged them in a shoot-out.

During the incident, Dougal was shot and injured and two firearms taken from him. Forensic tests done on the guns proved that one of them was used to murder Brown and Campbell.

Dougal is scheduled to appear in the Half-Way Tree Resident Magistrate's Court on Thursday, July 14.
