Trial set for businessman charged with killing 90-y-o
published: Friday | July 15, 2005

THE TRIAL of 42-year-old Kingston businessman, Steve Bitter, who is charged with the murder of his 90-year-old grandfather Ronald Bitter has been set for October 10.

The case was set for trial this week in the Home Circuit Court but had to be put off because Dr. Ere Seshiah who performed the post-mortem is off the island.

It was reported at first that the deceased, Ronald Bitter, had fallen and hurt himself but the post-mortem report disclosed that there were broken ribs and damage to his liver. The injuries were consistent with a severe beating.

The Crown is alleging that on September 16, 2003, Bitter severely beat his grandfather resulting in his death.

Bitter who is being represented by Delano Harrison, Q.C., and attorney-at-law Hugh Thompson, has been remanded in custody until his trial.
