Elusive con woman identified
published: Sunday | July 17, 2005

Petrina Francis, Gleaner Writer

ALLEN

THE WOMAN who had been going around impersonating senior female members of the Jamaica Constabu-lary Force and soliciting money from unsuspecting residents under false pretences has been identified - well sort of.

In a news release yesterday, the Constabulary Communication Network (CCN) said the woman was Pauline Allen, but the story does not end there. The elusive con woman also goes by the names Yvonne Lattibeaudiere, Carolyn Hemmings, Yvonne Graham, Pauline Allen, Marilyn Williams, Althea James, Ann-Marie James, Beverly Champagnie, Sonia Edwards, Yvonne Tucker, Margaret Swaby and Althea Graham otherwise called 'Kitty', 'Latty' and 'Al'.

The con artist has been impersonating Deputy Commissioner of Police Jevene Bent, Assistant Commissioner Novelette Grant, Superintendent Ionie Ramsay-Nelson and Deputy Superintendent Hyacinth Wallace.

MODE OF OPERATION

Reports are that the con artist operates by calling police stations, commercial enterprises and private homes, purporting to be one of the named police officers. She then asks for financial and other forms of assistance to repair vehicles, claiming they belonged to relatives or friends and had been broken into and she needed money to repair them. The police also say the con artist also managed to get the personal telephone numbers for two of the officers that she had been impersonating.

In St. Ann, the police say Ms. Allen operated as Superintendent Wallace along with a male counterpart, offering passport and immigration services at a price.

Anyone knowing the whereabouts of this woman is being asked to call Kingfish at 811, Crime Stop at 1888-991-4000 or 119.
