IMF team to visit Grenada
published: Tuesday | July 19, 2005

MITCHELL

THE INTERNATIONAL Monetary Fund will send a team to Grenada to do a special assessment of the situation after Hurricane Emily.

This was the conclusion after a meeting yesterday in Washington, between IMF officials and Grenada's Prime Minister, Dr. the Rt. Hon. Keith Mitchell. Dr. Mitchell told I.M.F. officials of the grave situation Grenada's economy now stood in after the effects of Hurricane Ivan and Emily.

He told them that Grenada badly needed help and asked them to give Grenada special consideration. The IMF officials have agreed to visit Grenada and to consider giving Grenada special assistance in light of the drastic impact the two hurricanes have had on the economy.
