New appointments at Kingston Wharves Ltd

ANDREA V. BENT

CHAIRMAN AND chief executive officer of Kingston Wharves Limited (KWL), Grantley Stephenson, is pleased to announce the appointment of Andrea Vanessa Bent to the post of group human resource manager, effective July 1.

Mrs. Bent has been a practising HR professional for the past 14 years. She joined Kingston Wharves Limited in April as group human resource manager after having worked at Texaco as HR manager and Caribbean programmes and performance coordinator with responsibility for 21 countries throughout the Caribbean.

She holds a master's degree in human resource management, a B.Sc. in professional management and carries the Professional Human Resource (PHR) certification. Mrs. Bent recently concluded a course in 'Arbitration and Alternative Dispute Resolution' with the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR).

Mrs. Bent has a wealth of experience in human resource management and she has also handled legal issues, public relations and government affairs, contributions and donations and various aspects of marketing.

She is a member of the Y-Speedos Swim Club and competes for the club at the master's level at local swim meets. Volunteer activities include serving on the board of Petroleum Employees Cooperative Credit Union as vice-president and member of the board of directors of Jamaica Association of Training & Development (JATAD). She is also a member of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). Andrea is an assistant Sunday school teacher and coordinator for the Youth Group at Mona Open Bible Church.

She is married to Arthur and they have three children.

CYRIL R. THOMPSON, FCA, FCCA

KWL CHAIRMAN Grantley Stephenson is also pleased to announce the appointment of Cyril R. Thompson to the post of chief financial officer, effective June 1.

Mr. Thompson previously served as a director of Hardware & Lumber Limited and Jamaica Property Company Limited (a subsidiary of Pan Jamaican Investment Trust). He has held senior management positions at Hardware & Lumber Limited; Jamaica Property Company Limited; Pan Jamaican Investment Trust and KPMG (formerly Peat Marwick Mitchell).

Mr. Thompson's professional career spans over 21 years in the field of accounting and auditing. He is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Jamaica (ICAJ), as well as a fellow of the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants (ACCA). He holds a diploma in business administration (University of Wales/Manchester Business School) and is currently pursuing a diploma in corporate governance, ACCA.

Mr. Thompson is married and has four children. For relaxation he enjoys cricket, dominoes and farming.
