THE SUNSHINE state of Florida will be illuminated even brighter as of today when Jamaica's young Sunshine Girls touch down at Fort Lauderdale this afternoon ahead of Thursday's start of the World Youth Netball Championships.

The team, which leaves the Norman Manley International Airport at 12:05 this afternoon, slept at the Alhambra Inn, Mountain View Avenue last night in preparation for today's departure.

Jamaica are drawn in Pool B with Canada, Bermuda, South Africa and the United States of America (USA) while Australia, the defending champions, play out of Pool A with St. Lucia, Malaysia, Scotland and the Cook Islands.

Pool C is comprised of New Zealand, Antigua and Barbuda, Wales, Northern Ireland and Botswana while England, Barbados, Trinidad and Tobago, Fiji and Samoa are the teams in Pool D.

The respective pool winners advance to the semi-final stage of the competition while the remaining teams will battle for final rankings.

Jamaica open their bid for supremacy against Bermuda on Friday.

Squad: Nicole Aiken, Romelda Aiken, Tyiesha Bennett, Marion Campbell, Neekeesha Connolly, Jodi-Ann Ffrench, Kerry-Ann Brown, Peter Gaye Thomas, Latoya Thomas, Tameika Stewart, Kadian Mendes and Shedeky Hamilton.
