THE KINGDOM Covenant Ministries is currently hosting a Jamaica medical mission at the Family Church on the Rock, St. Andrew.
One hundred and seventeen medical practitioners and volunteers from Canada and the United States are in the island to provide free medical care to those in need.
The Reverend Dr. Pat Francis said patients will be counselled and provided with teachings on health issues such as diabetes and high blood pressure.
Dr. Francis said free medication would be given from the pharmacy after a visit to the doctor.
She further said it was hoped that the mission would be a yearly event.
"The vision is to provide free health care in every parish in Jamaica," she said.
The total cost of the mission is $12 million, including medical supplies, equipment, transportation and accommodation.
Alma Waugh, one of the visitors to the clinic, said she was there to look after her eye.
"I am glad they are here as I do not have the money to go to the doctor. I am glad for it and I want them to come back every year," she said.
Dr. Francis said she wants to bring a message of hope to the Jamaican community.
The medical clinic continues until Saturday when a gospel rally is scheduled to take place at Emancipation Park, New Kingston.
