ON WEDNESDAY, July 20, attorneys-at-law Nicholson Phillips kicked off their fifth anniversary celebrations with a cocktail reception at the Terra Nova Hotel in St Andrew.
But unfortunately, guest of honour, the much talked about author/spiritual teacher, Iyanla Vanzant did not make an appearance. However, the celebrations went on without the special lady.
Prior to the beginning of the formalities, the guests were treated to live music by the highly acclaimed 50-50 band who entertained with quite a number of hit selections that sure had everyone grooving.
Soon enough Michael-Anthony Cuffe, the master of ceremonies, in his smooth style, welcomed all before inviting, Lorna Phillips, one of the partners in Nicholson Phillips to address the gathering.
"We decided five years ago to practise a different sort of law," Ms. Phillips said, adding that theirs was a law firm with heart.
She spoke about the firm's accomplishments and history, and made way for Steadman Fuller, CEO of Kingston Bookshop, and the other partner Manley Nicholson who also had brief remarks.
Guests mingled over refreshments and more tunes from 50-50 band. The partners then opened the dance floor, setting the pace with a nifty two-step and shortly after the other guests followed suit.
Among the guests in attendance were: Colonel John Prescod and his wife Pat, Carolle Guntley, Victor Cummings, Audrey Stephens, Andre Hilton, Aubyn Hill, Yvonne Sobers, Jimmy Moss-Solomon, Dr. Claude Packer and his wife Lissa, Senator Oswald Harding and his wife Marigold.
