WEDDING OF THE WEEK
THERE IS a certain magical bond between twins that follows them throughout life. From walking to eating, most twins seem to do everything simultaneously and in the case of Danielle and Sean Stephens, 29, marriage was no different.
Mirroring the timespan in which both were welcomed into the world with Sean being the first and Danielle trailing in at second, Sean exchanged wedding vows in March with Yealon Delaphena at the Prospect Chapel and Church in Ocho Rios, St. Ann, followed by a reception at Carey Island.
Wedding coordinators Anne Marie Wyss and Stephanie Scott were responsible for making Sean and Yealon's special day unforgettable by planning every detail down to the following day's beach party celebration at Reggae Beach.
TWO STORMS, A MISSING PASTOR AND A WEDDING
Four months after her twin brother's wedding, Danielle Stephens married Glastier Cunningham on Friday, July 15 ceremony. It was a case of all's well that ends well.
The couple got engaged last Christmas morning when Stephens was presented with a stunning engagement ring by her beau.
With excitement ringing in the air about the twins simultaneously celebrating another milestone in their lives, it was decided that Stephens and Cunningham would be married at the Goblin Hill Hotel in Portland at sunset in July. With the passage of Hurricane Dennis in early July the roads to Portland had been damaged and the impending arrival of Hurricane Emily left both families and wedding coordinators with no choice but to find a new venue for the wedding. Plans were hastily made to hold the wedding on Saturday, July 16, on the lawns of the home of Marjorie and Paco Kennedy on Lady Musgrave Road in St. Andrew.
Those plans were abruptly changed to the Friday as weather reports warned of torrential rains and gusty winds from the passage of Hurricane Emily. At 2:00 p.m. on the day of the ceremony the family received a call from the pastor whose car had broken down in Santa Cruz, St. Elizabeth.
To make matters worse, an hour later the clouds burst and the showers came washing down. For what felt like an eternity the wedding seemed doomed. Nonetheless with luck on their side the showers ceased, a new pastor came to the rescue and at about 6:00 p.m. Danielle Stephens and Glastier Cunningham were pronounced man and wife in the presence of relieved family and friends.
The bride looked stunning in a fitted gown
accessorised with antique butterfly broaches on the lower back and the groom was outfitted in a white three-piece suit.
The festivities carried on into the wee hours of the morning with guests dancing up a storm and dining on fare by Ciao Bella and the Dragon Court restaurant in Kingston. Among the memorable moments was a tribute to the bride by maid of honour Lisa Bell and a tribute to the groom by friend Graham Jervis.
Danielle and Sean Stephens are the children of Robert and Donna Stephens of Norbrook, St. Andrew. The Stephens' daughter-in-law, Yealon, is the daughter of Dudley and Sonia Delaphena of Orlando, Florida, and son- in- law Glastier is the son of Glastier and Audrei Cunningham of Montego Bay, St. James.
