Protect our children

THE EDITOR, Sir:
I AM not a supporter of capital punishment. However, I believe that persons who kill children in cold blood should face the gallows. The children in our society must be given first priority in all aspects of national life. Above all, their safety and security should be given top priority. This responsibility lies not only with Government but also with each and every adult throughout this nation.
I propose that the Government establish and implement a special policy aimed at protecting our nation's children. Some of the measures under this policy could include: (a) the provision of free transportation, to and from school, for all primary school students who attend public schools; (b) the establishment of a special children's protection branch of the JCF aimed at securing schools and children's homes; (c) the establishment of an ongoing education and awareness campaign aimed at teaching children about dispute resolution, the dangers of hard drugs and sexuality; (d) the establishment of safe and secure playgrounds for our nation's children.
It's time for us to put children first in our society, once again.
I am, etc.,
