Doctor on assault charge offered bail
published: Monday | July 25, 2005

A DOCTOR charged with indecent assault allegedly committed on a patient, appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Friday.

He is Dr. Marc Whyte, 43, of Tangerine Place, Kingston.

It is being alleged that, on July 15, he sexually assaulted a 31-year-old nurse who had gone to him for treatment at his office at Tangerine Place.

Dr. Whyte has been offered bail in the sum of $50,000 with a surety.

Senior Resident Magistrate Martin Gayle ordered Dr. Whyte to surrender his travel documents to the police and report to the Constant Spring Police Station on a weekly basis. A stop order has been placed on Dr. Whyte which means he cannot leave the island.

He is to return to court on October 12.
