THERE WAS tulle, there was lace. Organza, too, had a place. The colours were white and everything else that was bright.
Naturally, it could only have been a wedding showcase and Sheer Elegance displayed every style, fabric and colour that could make an appearance on some bride-to-be's wedding day.
On Sunday evening, the meeting room at the Knutsford Court Hotel in St. Andrew was transformed into a bridal centre with displays of wedding invitations, photographs, wedding favours and, of course, wedding garb - from tuxedos to wedding gowns.
But for those in attendance - primarily women, that is - it was all about the fashion show and what a show it was. For the future bride who had not made up her mind about what kind of gown she should wear on her wedding day, Sheer Elegance showed them all. From a V-neck halter, beaded-lace sheath dress with a fish tail skirt to an organza trumpet skirt gown with beaded lace trim, there were gowns and styles a-plenty.
And, of course, since a poorly attired groom can make even the most beautiful bride look bad, there were plenty of suits and tuxedos for the lucky men to choose from. Colours ranged from white to black with brown and blues in between.
But that was not all, as Sheer Elegance was more than prepared to outfit the rest of the bridal party as well. So, darling white dresses for flower girls and handsome suits for page boys were also on show. There was a myriad of fashion choices for the maids of the day.
Even wedding guests were not to be left out, as formal gowns and beautiful dresses whetted the appetite. When the show ended, many a confused bride was half-way towards making a decision, while many grooms started to count the cost.
