Manchester's left arm spinner Andre Dwyer was the chief destroyer against the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) in last weekend's Supreme Ventures Super Cup final at Kensington Park. Dwyer produced Man-of-the-Match figures of 14 for 140 in leading Manchester to a 53-run win over JDF. He bagged nine for 103 in the first innings and five for 37 in the second. Scores: Manchester 175 and 216; JDF 225 and 124.

MANCHESTER'S HOLIDAY is over. Their champagne glasses may still be wet but they'll have to quit celebrating their Supreme Ventures Super Cup triumph in time for the start of today's Capital and Credit Limited Overs cricket competition.

Opening day of the competition will feature nine matches being played in four groups.

Manchester, who defeated the JDF by 43 runs last Sunday to win the two-day league, open against St. Elizabeth at Appleton. Their game is one of three Group C fixtures on.

Left arm spinner Andre Dwyer starred for Manchester in the League final, picking up 14 wickets and will again be the man to watch.

St.Catherine CC hosting Portland and Boy's Town at home against St. Thomas are the other Group C games on.

Beaten league finalists JDF, who also lost in the final of the Capital and Credit last year, will host Kingston at Up Park Camp whereas Westmoreland entertain Clarendon at Alan Rae Oval in Group A.

The east Kingston clashes featuring hosts Kensington and Lucas should produce fireworks with West Indies players Christopher Gayle and Wavel Hinds at home playing for their respective clubs.

Hinds will lead Kensington's charge against Police at Kensington Park whereas St. Catherine parish will face the brute force of Gayle opening for Lucas at Nelson Oval in their Group B clash.

Melbourne will welcome the services of Marlon Samuels and Carlton Baugh Jnr., who are back from West Indies A Team duties in Sri Lanka.

The men from Courtney Walsh Drive should present problems for Maurice Clarke and his St. Mary team travelling to Kingston.

St. James against St. Ann at Elgin Town rounds off the day's matches.

All games begin at 9:30 a.m.

With Capital and Credit pumping a whopping $3.7 million in sponsorship this year, winning teams will take home a $8,000 bonus at the end of each round.

Correspondingly, the Man-of-the-Round will collect a cash incentive of $10,000, which he will donate to charities of his choice. If a Man of the Round is chosen as the Most Valuable Player when the season ends on September 17, he will take home $20,000.

Of the 21 teams that will start the competition, only eight (the top two teams in each group) will advance to the quarter-final round which will be known as the 'Super 8'.

Thereafter, the top four teams advance to the semi-final stage to vie for the trophy.

St. Catherine CC are defending champions after beating the JDF in the final at Sabina Park last year.
