LEVY
KINGSTOWN, St Vincent, CMC:
JAMAICA turned in a strong batting performance in their second innings to take command against Trinidad on the second day of the first round of matches in the TCL Group Under-19 tournament at the Stubbs Ground yesterday.
By the close, Jamaica had reached 163 for four after earlier dismissing Trinidad for 75, to ensure that there was a tie on first innings scores.
Jamaica were led by their captain Jamie Trenchfield who top scored with 35 while openers Zaniffe Fowler and Damion Ebanks hit 26 and 24 respectively.
Albert Gopie scored 22 while Ziggy Levy was unbeaten on 24 and Nickoy Samuel, not out 23 at the close.
Fowler and Ebanks ensured a positive start for Jamaica as they added 52 for the first wicket. Both fell with the score on 52 but Gopie and Trenchfield combined in a 55-run, third wicket stand that guided Jamaica past the 100-run mark.
Gopie was eventually bowled by teenaged spinner Sunil Narine with the score on 107 and Trenchfield also fell to the same bowler some 14 runs later.
Whatever thoughts Trinidad harboured of a collapse were erased as Levy and Samuel
