THE POLICE have prepared an arrest warrant and are now searching for a third person in connection with allegations of sexual abuse of children in some children's homes and places of safety.
This has been confirmed by Assistant Commissioner of Police George Williams, at the Criminal Investigations Bureau (CIB).
He said on Wednesday that the police action follows the collection of statements from a witness. The accused is to face charges which include carnal abuse.
Four persons in total are expected to be charged based on the ruling of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Kent Pantry. The DPP made the ruling after examining a file containing 23 cases of alleged sexual abuse which were said to have taken place in some of the island's children's homes and places of safety. The ruling came more than two years after the cases were turned over to the police and later to the DPP's office.
However, ACP Williams said that the police have not been able to charge a fourth person because they were having trouble locating a witness to collect additional statements. These need to be collected before the police can arrest a fourth person, named by the DPP.
Two persons, 46-year-old Noel Haye, who was employed at the Maxfield Park Children's Home, and a pastor have already been charged by police and facing court action.
