Jamaican convicted for cocaine in Bermuda
published: Friday | August 5, 2005

HAMILTON, Bermuda, CMC:

A HIGH Court in Bermuda has convicted a Jamaican national of supplying US$70,000 worth of cocaine to a nursery schoolteacher.

Willston Ezekial Davis, a 43-year-old construction worker, was found guilty after a two-week-long trial, but showed no emotion as the jury foreman read out the majority verdict after more than fours hours of deliberation.

Davis, who pleaded not guilty, will be sentenced next month.

The court heard that Davis was spotted supplying the cocaine to his 26-year-old live-in girlfriend, Cindy Augustus, a teacher at a Southampton child care centre in June 2003, after police and customs officers had staked out the nursery following a tip-off.

Augustus is currently serving a nine-year jail sentence after earlier admitting her role in the drug deal.
