RJR rocks at the races
published: Friday | August 5, 2005

( left ) Tameka Thompson of ICWI strikes a demure pose in this number.

ON SATURDAY, July 30, Caymanas Park came alive as Lester Spaulding, chairman of the RJR Group of companies, led Gary Allen, Kay Osborne, Lloyd Pusey and the rest of the RJR heavyweights to a day of fun and recognition of corporate clients at the track.

Everywhere you looked the colours purple and yellow blazed in bold profusion, and women and men went to great lengths to outdo each other in hat designs and outfits that stirred more than the senses.

Mr. Spaulding got into the groove as he lent a very fine looking Ishtar Govia his hat to complete her barely there ensemble as she entered the best outfit contest. Well, we are not exactly saying his gesture made it happen, we are not even saying it was almost like a "hat trick", we just think it was a very remarkable coincidence that she won.

MUSIC, LAUGHTER

It was a day of music, laughter, betting, sponsored booths filled with wines themed by the RJR Group's many stations and enough activities to keep the crowd occupied.

Highlights included a booth filled with displays from Wray and Nephew, Two Oceans, Red Label and the brands from Super Plus Deli. Jacqui Tyson was a gracious hostess as she piloted patrons through the booth.

These were some of the hats that we caught on camera.
