Young Boyz score big win

FIVE GOALS from Christopher Waugh led Jamaica's Under-15 Reggae Boyz to a massive 12-0 win in their first game of the Caribbean Football Union Youth Cup against St. Vincent and the Grenadines yesterday at the Marvin Lee Stadium in Trinidad and Tobago.

The youngsters, eager to show that Jamaica is ahead of the rest of the region in the sport at every level, raced to an 8-0 lead at half-time before relaxing with some changes in the second half.

Waugh got his goals in the the 34th, 36th, 37th, 57th and 60th minutes of play while Jamaica's other goals came from the boots of John-Ross Doyley in the 17th, Romario Campbell in the 33rd, Adrian Christian in the 39th, Ateba Morgan in the 41st and Dever Orgill in the 44th while substitute Jeffrey Johnson had a brace, with two late goals in the 86th and 88th minutes.

BAHAMAS CRUSH BVI

In the earlier game of a doubleheader, Bahamas ran all over British Virgin Islands (BVI) to come away 16-1 winners.

They got their goals from Noel Cancino (second, 58th, 75th), captain Michael Bethel (fourth, 12th), Duran Mitchell (10th, 36th, 48th, 51st, 89th), Craig Smith (20th and a three-time taken penalty in the 90th), Jared Higgs (53rd) Shem Moss (59th, 66th, 73rd). Alec Anderson pulled a consolation goal back for BVI in the 61st minute.

Today Jamaica take on the Bahamas at 10:00 a.m. (Ja time) and BVI meet St. Vincent and the Grenadines at noon (Ja time) at the same venue.
