JNBS to open Trelawny branch
published: Tuesday | August 9, 2005

THE JAMAICA National Building Society is soon to open a branch in historic Falmouth, bringing to 26 the number of locations through which the organisation now operates.

The announcement was made by Earl Jarrett, General Manager, as he addressed the audience at a customer appreciation event held by the Society on the banks of the Martha Brae River in Trelawny recently.

Mr. Jarrett noted that the new location would present greater convenience for customers who would normally be served by the branch in Montego Bay.

"The branch will offer the services of the JN Group," he announced, referring to the insurance, small business financing, and investment services available through JNBS subsidiary companies.

The JNBS executive noted that with the developments to come on stream in Trelawny, such as the highway, the Greenfield Stadium and Harmony Cove, the parish is "set for significant change."

FOSTER RURAL DEVELOPMENT

Addressing parents and guardians in the audience, Mr. Jarrett urged them to encourage their children to remain in their home parishes in order to foster rural development.

"The traditional trend of rural to urban migration is not sustainable," he said. "With the money being pumped into investing in rural areas, we will need trained people to work in companies and organisations such as Jamaica National."

Mr. Jarrett further noted that the relationship that his organisation has established with customers over the years has made JNBS into the largest Jamaican-owned financial institution in Jamaica. "You as customers can certainly feel proud that the society has a system of governance and management that ensures that your assets are protected," he said.

He pointed ou that in recent years, the organisation had undergone significant growth both locally and overseas, and the money transfer services in particular have expanded, to include services from the U.S. and the U.K. to some Caribbean countries, and the establishment of two money shops in Jamaica.
