NCB develops new wealth creation unit
published: Wednesday | August 10, 2005

The National Commercial Bank's (NCB) Manor Park branch is now converted to a complete wealth creation banking unit.

Regional Manager at NCB for the Corporate Area and St. Thomas, Christopher Denny said, this new unit was created to be the company's prototype of a complete wealth creation transaction unit for the Corporate Area and St. Thomas.

He said this reformed unit which is one of two locations of the single NCB branch found in the Manor Park area, was particularly designed to fit that specific location and would not be replicated in the region. The changes he described are a part of the NCB's branch efficiency project.

CASH SERVICES

"The theme of this location will be based on those customer contacts which require a deeper customer relationship," he said. The revised focus of the branch caters to clients who require non-cash services such as credit and risk management, investment services, capital market, NCB insurance and personal banking services.

Prior to the changes which took effect on July 25 at the Manor Park location, the clients were offered regular banking services to include cash and non-cash transactions.

Denying that the bank was targeting clients with a high net worth for this location, Assistant General Manager for Group Corporate Communications at NCB Mrs. Sheree Martin, explained that the changes were to facilitate more efficient customer service.

"You do have customers who require a different level of service," she explained. "Physically, the premises has some limitation and this was one of the measures. It's a natural separation," Miss Martin continued.

The space limitations at Manor Park, "crowded out the capital market for that centre," added Mr. Denny agreeing that the readjustments make for a more efficient use of the space.

Service at the Manor Park branch will be done mainly by appointment while business development representatives of the bank will seek to establish new relationships for the bank. "Personal bank clients will be an exclusive set of clients who will assigned to a particular banker to manage their business," he said.

MODIFICATIONS

The services at the Manor Centre location have also been modified to exclude non-cash transactions and focus strictly on cash transactions and other transaction intensive services.

The bank merged its tellers and increased the teller compliment at the Manor Centre location. Credit card applications, cheque encashment cash withdrawals and deposits and new accounts are some of the services made available at Manor Centre.

Mr. Denny said there were no plans to replicate the Manor Park unit unless there is a situation where one branch is operating from two different locations. "The revision of services by itself did not reduce operation cost," he said.
