Who is abusing whom?
published: Friday | August 12, 2005

THE EDITOR, Sir,

I WOULD like to comment on the article published in the August 3, 2005 Gleaner, 'Wife refuses to collect ill husband from hospital'. My question is: Who is abusing whom in this relationship?

What point is this woman trying to make by having an article such as this published in The Gleaner? She reveals many personally embarrassing things.

She claims her husband is 'a dangerous psychotic', yet she is the one pictured with a belt she uses to restrain her husband.

She states he will kill her if she brings him home; however, in the very next sentence she says this man "has had 13 seizures in one day and has had two strokes. He cannot go to the bathroom by himself." I find it difficult to believe that someone with such severe physical problems is capable of the violence this woman is describing.

There are many contradictions in her 'story' which lead me to believe she has ulterior motives in having this very personal information published in such a public manner.

I am, etc.,
