Take the Half Moon experience
published: Friday | August 12, 2005

Tesi Johnson, Gleaner Writer

ON TUESDAY afternoon, the partners, clients and industry personnel of the Half Moon Hotel, Montego Bay, were invited to lunch at the Jamaica Pegasus in New Kingston to, "explore the possibilities of the legendary Half Moon experience".

The lunch was used to update guests on "what's new" with the Half Moon Hotel while tantalising their taste buds with the delectable cuisine of the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel.

Myrtle V. Dwyer, the Director of Sales, at Half Moon, delivered the briefing on the direction that the hotel would be taking after having celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2004. "This afternoon we give you an update of our progress as we begin another chapter in Half Moon's renaissance" she said. "As we embark on the second half of our legacy, we have committed to refining a resort for our guests, community and team to enjoy for another 50 years and beyond."

CHANGES

Among the changes that will be part of the multi-million dollar face-lift is renovating and upgrading the children's activity centre, the oleander cottages and rooms, and updating the resort's telecommunications system. Also, plans are under way to begin laying the architectural groundwork that will see the relocation and expansion of the pioneering Half Moon Spa.

Additionally, phase two of a three-phase beach restoration project in the area will begin. Plans are being made to restore and protect the existing beach and reclaim the beach that has been lost over the years. "To illustrate the updated look of Half Moon", she added, "we have unveiled a new advertising campaign for the U.S., Canadian and U.K. markets entitled. 'How the other half?'

In conjunction with the new advertising campaign, they will be launching in the next few weeks, a sleek new website that better reflects the resort's sophistication and beauty. Ms. Dwyer was clear in expressing that the changes being effected at Half Moon are with the customer in mind; "to provide you with an even better vacation or meeting experience."

Guests were then invited to direct their attention to their video monitor where they were treated to a sneak preview of Half Moon's new promotional video.
