Breese grabs five in Durham draw
published: Tuesday | August 16, 2005

BREESE

LONDON, CMC

Jamaica and West Indies all-rounder Gareth Breese grabbed five wickets as Durham drew with Leicestershire in their rain-hit County Championship game yesterday.

Breese finished with five for 91 as Leicestershire were dismissed for 443 after resuming from their overnight position of 217 for three.

The 29-year old, sending down 19.4 overs of off-spin, put the Leicestershire innings in decline after they were cruising at 348 for three at one stage.

He broke a 157-run, fourth wicket stand between HD Ackerman and Indian Dinesh Mongia, when he bowled Ackerman for 61 off 81 balls.

Mongia, who helped himself to 164, was then deceived by Breese and stumped after he had faced 191 balls and struck 26 fours and three sixes.

Breese also accounted for former Barbados and West Indies all-rounder Ottis Gibson without scoring, as the last seven wickets fell for 95 runs.

Durham were 103 for two in their second innings at the end.
