LETTER OF THE DAY - Exceptional service at Cornwall Regional
published: Wednesday | August 17, 2005

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I AM using this medium to thank the entire radiotherapy/oncology team at the Cornwall Regional Hospital led by the ever so quiet, gentle, soft-spoken, meticulous, yet strong Dr. Sridhar. The team I speak of comprises Messrs Audley Baxter, Kevin Johnson, Vincent Fredricks, Keno Richards and nurses Dian Anglin and Claudette Allen-Reid.

I happened to be a patient there and the care, thoughtfulness, pampering and helpfulness was way above most medical facilities. I have not been to any other area of the hospital to compare the treatment received, but I can assure you that they went above and beyond any call of duty, which surpasses everything. They are always on time and they do not like to keep patients waiting. They are very organised.

I remember saying to Mr. Richards, "please ensure that you look after me well" and he said to me, "you know we treat every single one of our patients who walks through that door well". He went on further to say, "all of us here love what we do and we all work as a team, so it makes it easier for us to treat everyone well. We take pride in our work." This did not take too long to be proven, as it was evident with all whom I witnessed come through that door to the department.

Further proof was discovered when I saw an elderly woman coming through the door. One of the employees went towards the door and walked her to the sitting area.

You know, when I see all of this I wish many medical facilities, including some of the hospitals, could take time out to offer quality customer service in this same 'healthy measure'. This kind of attitude displayed by such a wonderful team went beyond me. Every person was treated with good patient care, so much so that you forget your illness.

Thank you all again and continue to do the great work you are doing.

I am, etc.,

SHIRLEY JARRET

St. Ann
