JAMAICA'S UNDER-18 champion, Brandon Wilson, secured a final-round victory over Barbados Under-20 champion Martyn Delcastilho to finish third in Monday's final day of the Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Under-20 Chess Championships in Barbados.

Wilson finished two points shy of first-place Luis Fernando Ibarra of Mexico who took the championship after an eight point tiebreaker with Isam Ortiz of Cuba.

Jamaica's two other male representatives, David Lai and Valence Jordan, ended the championships 12th and 15th respectively.

In the girls' section, Jamaica's sole representative, Deborah Richards, finished with 5.5 points from nine games to take fourth place as the title was won by Nadya Ortiz of Columbia (8.5points).
