Work, study programme
published: Thursday | August 18, 2005

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I WOULD suggest that the Ministry of Education tries to implement a work and study programme within the high school system, where students at the Grade 7 may do simple work like packing bags in the supermarket and they collect a small fee.

At Grade 9 until the end of high school they may gain some experience in the career of their choice, for example accounting, etc. This would qualify them with some years of work experience. Students can only become productive if they gain early experience in the world of work. Use the schools as mini factories to produce for the country, so one can say that the Ministry of Education is producing for the nation.

I am, etc.,
