LAST WEEK Sunday afternoon saw a party like no other at Ham Stables, Bernard Lodge, St. Catherine. It was a joint effort between Appleton Estate and several Kiwanis Clubs in the Corporate Area and St. Catherine.

Like-minded party animals showed up in droves for what is set to become an annual fund-raiser for Kiwanis projects.

Now, we all know that it's the height of the hurricane season, so showers of blessings do not need an invitation to descend. And on Sunday when they did, everyone and everything was drenched.

RAINING CATS AND DOGS

Guests scampered to the nearest tent while the faint-hearted ran to their cars and headed home. One usually prim and proper lady soon left the shelter of her tent, sandals in hand, and headed for a nearby bar where she requested a bottle of gungus and declared, "It's medicine for my mole." Well her's seemed to have moved to her mouth!

MUSIC

The music of Rapture Disco pumped throughout the showers and some danced in their wet spots while bartenders were kept busy serving up the 'sauce' in the downpour.

Award-winning caterer Lorraine Fong and her team served up a menu of local and international favourites, and when the rains stopped, more cars kept rolling in. As if on cue, eager feet hit the corral-styled dance floor and from the looks on their faces, Marilyn Bennett and her fellow Kiwanians seemed pleased with a job well done.
