NCB WERE crowned winners of the Courts Consolation Knockout Business House netball competition following a comfortable 25-10 victory over the Cable & Wireless team at the Leila Robinson Courts yesterday.
Spurred on by a scorching 22 of 26 performance from goal shooter Camesita Lynch, the NCB team led from wire to wire as they capitalised on a solid start to eventually totally lock their opponents out of the game.
They started off by scoring four goals before their opponents could reply and also had a few key early interceptions to stamp their authority on the fixture.
Cable and Wireless had a small two-goal unanswered run of their own, but that was never going to be enough to have any significant impact on the NCB team which headed into halftime with a 13-6 lead.
FRUSTRATION
If the first half was a frustrating affair for the telecommunications women, the second proved only to be more of the same.
A defensively nagging NCB team kept getting their hands up to knock away the ball, restricting the Cable and Wireless offence, while kicking their game into an even higher gear.
While they went on to add another 12 goals to their total, they restricted C&W to a paltry four-goal second half. Goal attack Michelle Morris, with a 9 of 17 shooting performance, led C&W's offence .
In addition to Lynch, Eileen Bailey contributed to the winners' tally with a 3-6 shooting performance. NCB booked their spot in the final following a 23-10 victory over the JUTC while C&W had battled past the Jamaica Sugar Company 28-22. The consolation knockout competition was put in place to cater for those teams who did not make it to the quarter-finals of the Open League KO.
