A free-spirited Ravn Rae
published: Friday | September 2, 2005

Ravn Rae, Miss Empire Supermarket.

Meet the beauties in the Miss Jamaica World 2005 Pageant. One of the 15 lovely ladies will represent Jamaica in the Miss World Pageant, to be held in Sanya, China, on December 10, 2005. In the meantime, get to know who they are and pick your winner in the Public Vote competition. Details are published in Flair Magazine on Monday.

Name: Ravn Rae

Miss Empire Supermarket

Age: 19 years old

Occupation: Student

Height: 5'5"

Weight: 118 lbs.

Q: Why did you decide to enter.

RR: I decided to enter because I think that after the publicity that I gain and becoming a role model that I can maybe start a programme for literacy in Jamaica. I see that there is a dire need to start that. It's very important to be able to read and write.

Q: What is your best quality.

RR: I think it is my sense of humour. I think I come up with some of the weirdest phrases. I'm crazy, spontaneous and I pretty much enjoy laughing.

Q: If you could change one thing about yourself what would it be.

RR: Before I started this pageant I could think of so many things I wanted to change about myself, but then as I entered the pageant I realise that I wouldn't change a thing about myself. I believe I am my own unique person and I should grow to appreciate what God has given me.

Q: Why should you win.

RR: I'm not saying that the girls would not represent Jamaica to the best of their ability, but I know I would definitely represent Jamaica to the best of my ability. I think I have the most unique background. I am the motto 'Out of Many One People'.

Q: Name one difficulty you faced and overcame.

RR: I think learning to accept that I don't really have a father figure in my house. It's my mother who I've been growing up with. I used to always refer to my mother as the only person there and I definitely overcame that. Even on Father's Day I tell my mother happy Father's Day, because she means the world to me.

Q: Give one word to describe yourself.

RR: Freespirited.

Q: If you could have lunch with one person who would it be and why.

RR: Bill Clinton, because I would really like to get into his mind and understand him more, because he was one of the most successful presidents of one of the most powerful countries in the world and that is something so hard to achieve that I would like to sit down with him and see how his mind works and how he would run this country.

Q: Name one beauty queen you look up to and why.

RR: Regina Beavers, because her reign was so beautiful that she did it with all that I would want to do it with.

Q: How does being in the competition affect your career goals and how will it affect them if you win.

RR: It doesn't affect them. It would give me better exposure, because I'm being groomed and we learn about different cultures. It helps me to get better at achieving my goal and if I win it would definitely make me the best person I can be.

Q: What is the most important job that someone could do.

RR: Run a country. Because it is not like just running a household; it's running a country and they have to know the right directions to go in and they have to know how to lead people in general. How a country grows economically is important.
