FIFTEEN-YEAR-OLD KELLYE-RAE Fisher of Manchester High School is an achiever who works hard and goes after her dreams.
And that is exactly what she did when she copped eight distinctions and one credit in the 2005 Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) examinations.
When asked what was her reaction when she got the news of her achievement, an excited Kellye-Rae giggled and said: "I was screaming. I was jumping up and down because I was really happy."
She said her mother, Jannett Fisher, and her father, Horace Fisher, were her tower of strength. Additionally, Kellye-Rae said her best friend Chanique James, who got identical results as she did, was very supportive.
The teenager recounted numerous nights when her mother would stay up with her ensuring that she studied. Kellye-Rae describes herself as hardworking.
"Once I have a goal, I try my best to reach it. I am an outgoing person and I speak my mind and stand up for what I believe in," she said.
But Kellye-Rae is far from a bookworm. She was an active member of her school's science, quiz and drama clubs. She also plays the piano and the trombone. She enjoys reading a variety of novels and surfing the Internet.
Kellye-Rae is eyeing a career in corporate law and, to achieve this, she will be going back to Manchester High to pursue courses at the Caribbean Advanced Proficiency (CAPE) level, which is equivalent to GCE A'Level.
The assertive teenager, who will be 16 on Sunday, got distinctions for history, English literature, accounts, principles of business, mathematics, English language, spanish and biology. She got a credit for geography. Additionally, she was successful at three GCE O'Level subjects taken while she was in fourth form.
