All-Stars take on Knights in DHL final
published: Sunday | September 4, 2005

Kwesi Mugisa, Staff Reporter

SPARKS WILL fly at the National Stadium outdoor courts this evening when Tivoli Gardens All-Stars take on the Urban Knights in the final of the Jamaica Basketball Association's DHL Knockout Cup at 6:00.

The stage is set for an exciting encounter as the disciplined defence of the Knights will look to slow down the fiery All-Stars who can be more than a handful when they bring their 'A' game.

A key factor in this game will be control of the backboards. If the All-Stars' performance on the boards in their semi-final match up against the Harbour View Lakers is any indication of what is to come, then the Knights could be in for a very long night.

STRONG DEFENCE

However, to their credit, the Urban Knights usually do a pretty good job of protecting their defensive backboard and they no doubt will be looking to box out the huge Tivoli front-line.

Another area where the All-Stars may not have life easy will be from behind the arch as sharp shooters like Jermaine Peart will not have as much time or space to cause damage as the Knights defend the perimeter well.

Still, the key to this game could be the battle at the point guard spot between Tivoli's Paul Oliphant and the Knights' Fernando Young.

Both guards are not only dangerous from the outside but are also good at penetrating to set up their teammates. The winners in this match up may prove to be the winner in the game.
