BUSINESSES AND educational institutions will be able to cut their spending on the shipment of bulk mail to Jamaica, says operations supervisor of Spring Global Mailbox in the Latin America and the Caribbean, Adalberto Martinez.
The new cross-border mail service will deliver corporate bulk mail to Jamaica from across the world for its clients. Martinez said the service is a cross between a courier and a postal service.
"The industry is shaped in such a way that people use either courier or post office to send their mail. Our customers get almost a courier delivery with a mail price," he said. The service is between 10 to 25 per cent cheaper than any competitor and is known for its reliability, he said.
FIRST CARIBBEAN MARKET
Spring Global entered the Jamaican market based on its success in the first Caribbean country it entered.
"A company in Barbados came up with a need and we provided the service there and it was very successful," explained Mr. Martinez.
It offers three core services to customers including the Gold service which offers the fastest delivery time ranging from four to eight days. Spring Global will deliver up to 31 kilogrammes per box of bulk mail or printed material with its new Xpedite service.
Chairman of Fastpac, Carrington Grant, said the service is designed mainly for corporate customers as it is easier to reach companies through email than it is individuals.
ONLY COMPANY OF ITS TYPE
Citing DHL as its main competitor, Martinez said Spring Global is the only company of its type in Jamaica. "We are going after 100 per cent of the market," he said.
Spring Global Mailbox in partnership with Fastpac Courier Service Limited launched its mailbox services in Jamaica last Wednesday at the Knutsford Court Hotel, St. Andrew. Its operations are located at 24 Dunrobin Avenue in St. Andrew.
Based in Miami, Spring Global Mail is part of a worldwide cross border mailing system, established in July 2001 by TNT International.
TNT International consists of the Royal Mail, formerly the British Post Office, the Singapore Post and TPG Post, which has the largest share in the enterprise.
