Jamaica Champs to start on Friday
published: Wednesday | September 7, 2005

THE LONG-awaited Jamaica Table Tennis National Championships are scheduled to take place this weekend on Friday through to Sunday at the UTech Auditorium.

The tournament, sponsored this year by the Miami-based Trophy City Inc., was originally scheduled to run from July 15-17 but was postponed on account of Hurricane Emily. Competing for the Trophy City National Championship the tournament will see the players take part in parish team events, junior individual events, adult individual events and a veterans over-40 singles category.

Ludlow Bailey and Kaydian Carney are the defending national champions; Kingston are defending parish men's team champions while St. Andrew are the women's parish champions.

Parish team events and junior individual events will be played on Friday, adult individual events and veterans over-40 singles on Saturday and the finals of the major events will take place on Sunday.
