MEET THE beauties in the Miss Jamaica World Pageant. One of 15 lovely ladies will represent Jamaica in the Miss World Pageant to be held in Sanya, China, on December 10. In the meantime, The Gleaner is giving you a chance to know them.

Name: Jhenelle Rudd

Miss DIET TING

Age: 20 years old

Occupation: Student

Height: 5'6"

Weight: 128 lb

Why did you decide to enter the competition? "I decided to enter to make a difference, and it would be a good avenue to do so."

What is your best quality? "My determination, because it has gotten me out of a lot, and it continues to get me out of a lot, and it has gotten me this far.

If you could change one feature or thing about yourself, what would it be? "I wouldn't change anything, because I am comfortable with where I am . I am comfortable in my own skin."

Why do you think you should win? "I am a genuine person and I intend to use the opportunity as best as I can to benefit as much persons as I can in Jamaica."

Name one difficulty you have faced in the past and have overcome: "In prep school I had to wear a pair of shoes that I had outgrown and my toes stuck out. The children started to call me 'fritters boot', but I kept focused on what I was there to do and overcame."

Give one word to describe yourself: "Unique"

If you could have lunch with one person, who would it be, and why? "My grandfather. He died before I was born. I would love to get the chance to get to know him and learn about my family history."

Name one beauty queen you look up to and why: "Lisa Hannah, because she is a genuine person who is not only beautiful, but intelligent."

How does being in the competition affect your career goals, and will it affect them if you win? "Right now it is not affecting them. If I win, I will have to wait a year, but it will affect them in a positive way. I learnt a lot and will be able to use it at the end of the competition."

What is the most important job that someone could do? "Any job that entails service to others, and affecting their lives in a positive manner."
