Colette Morrison, the perfectionist
published: Thursday | September 8, 2005

Miss Andre's Auto Supplies and Services, Colete Morrison, one of the Miss Jamaica World 2005 contestants.

MEET THE beauties in the Miss Jamaica World Pageant. One of 15 lovely ladies will represent Jamaica in the Miss World Pageant to be held in Sanya, China, on December 10. In the meantime, The Gleaner is giving you a chance to know them.

Name: Colette Morrison

Miss ANDRE'S AUTO SUPPLIES & SERVICES

Age: 24

Occupation: Retail Development

Vital Statistics: 34, 24, 34

Height: 5'3"

Weight: 115 lb

Why did you decide to enter the competition? "The pageant to me is a lot of fun and gives exposure. It exposes you to different personalities, and you are able to visit different places in Jamaica."

What is your best quality? "My best quality is my smile."

If you could change one feature or thing about yourself what would it be? "I am a very strong individual, and in a way I am a perfectionist. I like things done effectively and efficiently. I would love to be more patient."

Why do you think you should win? "I think I have a lot to offer. I am a strong person; I am outgoing, and I can get very passionate about things because our country is suffering in so many areas. When you get a title there are so many things that you are able to do."

Name one difficulty you have faced in the past and have overcome: "When I went to Mexico on the AFS programme. I was sixteen years old, and not knowing the language very well, it was difficult to try and adapt to the culture. It was a different experience, but I stuck it out."

Give one word to describe yourself: " Charismatic"

If you could have lunch with one person, who would it be, and why? "George W. Bush, because I want to have a one-on-one with him. I want to know what his plan is for the world and Iraq. What he expects to get from all of this ... and if he is not feeling for the families of these soldiers."

Name one beauty queen you look up to and why: "I admire Lisa Hannah for the mere fact that she actually won Miss World, and was able to represent us."

How does being in the competition affect your career goals, and will it affect them if you win? "Right now it is not affecting my goals, because I strongly believe in time management. I go to work and when I leave I devote a lot of time to training. If I win, it would only be beneficial."

What is the most important job that someone could do? "Each job is important. Doctors deal with health, lawyers for legal issues, teachers when there are no parents around - even the Prime Minister himself. His job is to run a country and that is an amazing thing. So I wouldn't say that one job is more important than a next."
