THE EDITOR, Sir:
Janet Silvera's article in The Gleaner, titled 'Receiving the greats - Castro and Chavez', was certainly lively and enjoyable! However, Ms. Silvera left her left leg a little exposed when she described President Castro thus:
"With the help of a translator, the greatly admired SPANISH leader and Prime Minister spoke at length about Jamaica..."(!).
Now, Janet, you know that big island north of Jamaica ... yes, the one that is shaped something like a banana, famous for its cigars, rum and music (Almost ... as good as Jamaica's!) ... that is THOUSANDS of miles away from Spain? What is the name of El Presidente?
Well, at least Prime Minister Patterson, was not described as being a great African leader!
Well, what the heck, Janet ... Thanks! We really enjoyed your article ... and a little glimpse of your slip! Have a nice day!
I am, etc.,
