Henry scores hat-trick for Brown's Town
published: Tuesday | September 13, 2005

Paul A. Reid, Staff Reporter

WESTERN BUREAU:

RUSHANE HENRY of Brown's Town scored the season's first hat-trick yesterday to guide his school to a 5-0 thrashing of Aabuthnott Gallimore in their ISSA Pepsi/JN daCosta Cup Zone D game in Alexandria, St. Ann.

Henry's two first half strikes gave Brown's Town a 2-0 lead at the half time break and they scored three more in the second half.

Muschett High also started with a big win - a 5-1 beating of debutants Irwin High in Montego Bay in the Zone A game.

Muschett took the lead in Zone A over Cornwall College on goal difference after Cornwall won their opening game 2-1 over Herbert Morrison Technical on Saturday.

St. James High and William Knibb were also winners. St. James edged hosts Anchovy High 1-0, thanks to a Gavin Wright second half penalty conversion, while William Knibb outscored Maldon 3-2.

GAME NOT PLAYED

Ocho Rios High were 2-1 winners over Cedric Titus while the Marcus Garvey vs Ferncourt Zone D game was not played as the latter turned up over an hour late and the zone chairman will have to make a decision as to whether the game is to be replayed.

Today, former champions St. Elizabeth Technical High (STETHS) and Dinthill Technical will bow into action as 11 games are down to be contested, with Iona High set to become the second school to debut this season.

Iona will be away to St. Mary High in a Zone K game at the Highgate Community Centre.

STETHS, which lost just one player from last year's team, will play away to Balaclava in a Zone E game and will be seeking to extend their streak of never losing to them.

Balaclava have never scored a single goal against the Khani Senior-coached team in the last three seasons, while conceding 27 goals.

Dinthill, whose coach Frank Brown says they are in a rebuilding mode this season, take on Bog Walk who they beat 3-1 in one meeting last year. Zone J was hit badly by rain last year, forcing a number of postponements and thus just one game between both schools.

Defending Zone J champions Old Harbour will kick off their quest for their first title when they go up against Ewarton at the Soy Oval, while McGrath and Charlemont meet in the other game.
