Burton strikes purple patch
published: Tuesday | September 13, 2005

BURTON

LONDON, England, CMC

JAMAICAN INTERNATIONAL Deon Burton has struck a purple patch of form since joining Rotherham United from Brentford at the end of last season.

The 28-year old striker, a member of the Reggae Boyz who made history in appearing at the 1998 World Cup in France, has already scored six times in eight games this season, including a hat-trick against Blackpool two weeks ago.

Burton's form has propelled Rotherham, demoted from the Championship last season, to fifth in the League One table with four wins in their last five matches.

"I'm loving it - could not have asked for better. I don't know too much about the past here - all I can say is about the squad and I don't think there are many teams that will look forward to coming here," Burton said.
