MOTHER'S HAS launched a new, less expensive patty to schools right across the island.
The power patty was launched by the fast food chain in collaboration with school principals and canteen operators.
Their aim is to create a new patty product that would be more nutritious and more affordable than a traditional patty.
The company said it spent more than a million dollars over the last nine months in research and development to create its newest patty innovation.
Mother's is one of the largest home-grown Jamaican fast food chains, with 600 employees and 19 restaurant locations across the island.
This new patty creation is soy based, although it looks and tastes like a beef patty. Mother's has taken a decision to offer the product, which was introduced on September 5, for the most competitive price in schools with a recommended selling price to children of $35.
Because of its composition, said Richard Foreman, general manager, "the power patty actually contains 30 per cent more protein."
The Mother's power patty is already available in schools and Kathy Joseph, food service manager, says that the response has been positive.
"The children are buying it in the schools and are already asking for it in the Mother's restaurants," she said.
Discussions with marketing manager Donnette Brown Harris revealed that the new power patty would be available in Mother's restaurants by September 26.
