High fuel and other costs have forced Air Jamaica Express to suspend operations of the domestic carrier, as of midnight October 14, 2005.
According to a release from the carrier, this
decision is the outcome of a prolonged review of
prevailing market conditions, which points to diminishing prospects for the viable operation of the airline.
The airline's management said that the record high increase in fuel and other operational costs, coupled with the ongoing turbulence in the local and global aviation industry, make any further investment in Air Jamaica Express at this time imprudent.
