WESTERN BUREAU:

DEFENDING CHAMPIONS Glenmuir High continued their torrid start to the ISSA Pepsi/JN daCosta Cup competition with a 9-0 whipping of Bustamante High yesterday.

Carnel Learmond and James Thomas both grabbed hat-tricks as Glenmuir won their second straight game after passing Garvey Maceo 5-0 in last week's opening game at Jarrett Park.

Learmond took his tally to five goals and the lead in the goal-scoring race while Thomas has four to tie Old Harbour High's Dwight Wilson.

There were however upsets for last year's losing finalists Frome Technical and former winners Cornwall College.

FIRST WIN FOR GRANGE HILL

Grange Hill High scored their first win over Frome, beating the 2003 champions 2-1 at the Frome grounds in Westmoreland. Marvin Richardson in the 12th minute and Delan Crooks in the second half scored for Grange Hill while Delano Rankine had drawn Frome level late in the first half.

Cornwall College were ambushed 3-0 by Anchovy High at Jarrett Park as a Junior Morris penalty in the fifth minute and goals from Calvin Buchanan in the 34th and Nickoy Bernard in the 66th gave them their first win of the season after two losses.

It was Anchovy's second win over Cornwall and first in nine years.

William Knibb took over the lead in Zone A after beating St. James High 2-0 at the Elleston Wakeland Centre.

Vivroy Kirlew scored twice for the Paul 'Tegat' Davis-coached team as it won its third straight game.

Former champions Rusea's were 3-0 winners over Cambridge, thanks to two goals from Horace Maxwell Junior as they made it two in a row in Zone B.
