OCHO RIOS, St. Ann:
THE MAN who was detained by the police last month for impersonating some senior female members of the force was charged Friday.
He has been identified as Snively Price, 19, a labourer of Hamilton Mountain in St. Mary.
Price was charged by the Ocho Rios police on Friday with impersonating a police officer, obtaining goods by false pretence and attempting to obtain money by false pretence.
He has been in custody since August 8.
The police say Price has been under investigations for some time following reports that persons unknown have been impersonating senior police officers, namely Deputy Commissioner Jevene Bent, Superintendent Ionie Ramsay-Nelson, Assistant Commissioner Novelette Grant and Deputy Superintendent Hyacinth Wallace.
The impersonator allegedly made telephone calls to business places and individuals claiming to be one of the senior officers seeking to obtain donations in cash and goods. Price is booked to appear in the St. Ann's Bay Resident Magistrate's court today.
