ANOTHER IN the series of Gleaner Public Editors' Forum, focusing on health and well-being, was held Wednesday, August 31, in association with the Faculty of Medical Sciences at the Main Medical Lecture Theatre, University of the West Indies. Panellists addressed the theme: 'Passive Women, Active Men: Sex, Gender and HIV/AIDS', an exploration of how gender, culture, attitude and sexual behaviour impact the spread of HIV/AIDS in Jamaica.
Professor Archibald McDonald, dean of the Faculty of Medical Sciences, in thanking The Gleaner for allowing the faculty to co-host the forum, said, "We are very happy to participate and I think it demonstrates our commitment to educate the public on health-related issues and it's also a reflection of our interest in producing research which is relevant to the Caribbean and Jamaica."
