Seven slain over weekend - CCN
published: Tuesday | September 20, 2005

THE POLICE reported yesterday that seven persons were murdered over the weekend with four of those homicides taking place Saturday in St. Andrew and St. Catherine.

Marion Campbell, a 36-year-old bartender of Fiddies Road in Kingston 13, was the lone casualty on Sunday.

The Constabulary Communication Network (CCN) reports that she was gunned down at 8:10 p.m. at the intersection of Whitfield Avenue and Fiddies Road.

She was reportedly shot by a man who emerged from a white Toyota Corolla motor car while she was locking up a bar.

After briefly speaking to Ms. Campbell, the man reportedly shot her. She was pronounced dead at the Kingston Public Hospital.

On Saturday, Anthony Hall, a 22 year-old bus conductor and Glassmi Davis of Central Village, St. Catherine were among those murdered.

Ms. Davis, who was a passenger on the bus on which Mr. Hall was working, died while undergoing treatment at hospital while Mr. Hall died Sunday, also at hospital.

They were reportedly shot by three gunmen while on a bus that travels the Spanish Town to Kingston route.

According to the CCN, the men jumped on the bus when it stopped to let off a passenger, held on to Mr. Hall and demanded money. When he refused, one of the robbers opened fire, hitting him several times.

One of the robbers was reportedly stabbed by a passenger as he left the bus, but his colleagues opened fire, striking the driver and Ms. Davis.

The driver remains in hospital in serious condition.

According to the CCN, a 16 year-old boy who turned up at hospital with stab wounds was identified as one of the robbers. He was admitted under police guard.

There was also bloodshed in the Central Village area where a 16-year-old student, Andrew Campbell, was killed at McBride Lane.

He and another man were reportedly walking along First Avenue on Sunday morning when they were shot. Campbell died instantly while the other man, yet to be identified, was admitted to hospital.

There has been no arrest in this case.

Also on Saturday, Cargill Cassie of Tower Isle, St. Mary, was shot and killed at his home. The CCN report says he was attacked at 10:00 p.m. by unknown assailant(s).

No arrest has been made in this case.
