HARBOUR VIEW retained their Sherwin Williams National Women's Football Knockout title by beating arch rivals Barbican 3-2 on penalties at Constant Spring playing field on Tuesday.

At the end of regulation and extra time the scoreline was tied at 2-2. This was after Harbour View's Peta-Gaye Hamilton (12th) and Marvette Francis (32nd) gave their team a 2-0 lead at the break. However, substitute Yanique Goldspring (75th and 84th) brought Harbour View on level terms and the game remained that way for another 36 minutes.

In the penalty shoot-out, Claudette Walker, Kimia Parker and Stacy-Ann Johnson beat Barbican's goalkeeper Kahlie Beckford, while Tamara Williams and Julie Ferron were the only Harbour View players to get the ball past Paula Jackson.

Vin Blaine, coach of the winning team, expressed satisfaction at the victory, but wasn't happy with the first goal his team gave up.

"We gave up one soft goal and brought them back into the game - penalties again saved us this year, we won on penalties last year," Blaine said.

Meanwhile, his opposite number, Charles Edwards, gave credit to Harbour View. "I think it was a very good game - exceptional game. Congratulations are due to Harbour View, they came out and did well," Edwards said.
