Stamp & Go at Woody's
published: Thursday | September 29, 2005

Waitress and assistant, Taniesha Williams, gives service with a coy smile at Woody's Lowbridge in Portland.

Woody's Lowbridge

Drapers District, Portland

Telephone: 993-7888.

IN DRAPERS District in Port Antonio lies a quaint little eatery called Woody's Lowbridge. It is owned and operated by Charles 'Woody' Cousin and his wife Audrey 'Cherry' Cousin, and has been in business for the past 19 years. Upon entering the restaurant, the ambience rouses nostalgia for Momma's "good ol' country cooking", and of course you're in the right place.

They prepare mostly Jamaican favourites, like Run Down, Brown Stew Fish, or Curried Goat, just to name a few; and the meals are prepared to order. At Woody's they also specialise in burgers, particularly, beef, cheese and veggie burgers. Also available are veggie dishes which may be prepared 'ital' if you so desire. Be sure to wash it down with a glass of their home-made ginger beer. Notably, the co-owner and chef, Audrey 'Cherry' Cousin, holds the title of 'World's Best Stamp & Go Chef', so you might want to put her skills to work by ordering a serving or two of her celebrated Stamp and Go.

When at Woody's Lowbridge, Enjoy your meal in the outdoor dining area, with the "cool Portland breeze" as your companion; or better yet, stay in their indoor dining area that has cheerful, and thought-provoking mantras painted on the walls. "You're so damn precious" or "it's nice to be nice" just may be the thing you needed to see.
