JTA to build houses for teachers
published: Friday | September 30, 2005

Petrina Francis, Education Reporter

TEACHERS IN central Jamaica could soon benefit from housing which the Jamaica Teachers' Association (JTA) is planning to build on lands it owns in Manchester.

Ruel Reid, president of the JTA, said the procurement of houses for teachers is in keeping with the organisation's mandate to enhance the financial base of teachers.

He told The Gleaner that a preliminary site plan indicates that the property can accommodate a total of 30 two-bedroom town houses and a two-storey office complex.

The administrative offices will house the JTA offices and the JTA Co-operative Credit Union and will also provide accommodation for meetings and seminars convened by the association.

The 2.26 acres of land is situated on the eastern side of New Green Road, Battersea.
