"BRING BACK peace, love, unity and a sense of community," is the theme of the new Red Stripe 'Come-Unity' Link-Up programme that was launched this week at Ken's Wildflower restaurant and lounge in Portmore, St. Catherine.
"Each year, Red Stripe embarks on promotional activities as a means of rewarding our loyal consumers," said Karen Felicien-Brown, sales director. "Our objective this year is to continue that reward programme, hence the sweepstakes and road shows."
RESOURCE CENTRE
The company has committed some $10 million to fund the construction of a resource centre in one parish, renovation of multi-purpose hard courts in four and still in another, the complete renovation of the community centre and sports field.
"Red Stripe is proud to announce this investment in community development," Ms. Felicien-Brown added, "as our action speaks volumes of the company's deep commitment to the prosperity and well-being of our people and country."
Red Stripe recently produced Jamaica's first Corporate Citizenship Report prepared in accordance with the Global Reporting Initiative 2002 Guidelines which outlines the company's progress in managing the triple bottomline - social, financial and environmental sustainability issues. Community investment is, therefore, a critical component of the company's focus as it seeks to "act with integrity."
Topping the list of the com-pany's most recent nation-building initiatives was a $100 million contribution towards the restoration of potable water to communities that were most badly affected by the passage of Hurricane Ivan.
