Netball classics go down to the wire
published: Saturday | October 1, 2005

Paul-Andre Walker, Staff Reporter

RAIN PUT a hold on much of the excitement from this week's Business House Netball Association's divisional leagues.

On Thursday the clouds cleared enough for some games to be played and despite the cold conditions, the netballers managed to muster up some classic games.

In the Intermediate 'B' League, Kraft and Salada found each other unbeatable in a 19-all draw.

The game between the National Water Commission (NWC) 'A' and Digicel was also a close one, as the former barely came away with a win after a 19-17 finish.

In similar fashion, Shell had to dig deep to find a victory over Guardian life in a game that ended 20-18.

The Bank of Nova Scotia (BNS) 'B' had a little more room to breathe in their 22-18 victory over Azans.

In the meantime, United General Insurance Company were clipping Courts 31-29.

The easiest victory of a difficult day, however, belonged to Grant Stewart Phillips, who dispatched the ISSA Transport Group 26-15.

In the Junior division, three games were scheduled to be played. However, Wray and Nephew lost out on the chance for valuable points when they failed to show up for their game against Victoria Mutual Building Society.

In the other two games, the National Housing Development Corporation tagged the Department of Correctional Services 'B' 19-18 and Lascelles lost out to NWC 'B' 17-14.

The competitions continue today with the biggest games coming in the Senior League which begins at 7:00 p.m.

Those games will feature General Accident who play the Bank of Nova Scotia 'A' in what could be considered the 'Clash of the Titans', while the National Commercial Bank (NCB) go up against Jamaica Broilers, and the Royal Bank of Trinidad and Tobago RBTT) take on HEART.

The action begins at 3:00 p.m.
